The Opportunity

Our Legal and Compliance Department is searching for a full-time attorney to serve as an Associate General Counsel at our headquarters located in downtown Cleveland, Ohio.  This employee will report to the General Counsel in the Cleveland, Ohio office and will support and assist the other attorneys in Boyd Watterson’s legal/compliance department. All candidates should be licensed attorneys or currently attending law school with an expected 2019 graduation date. Financial industry knowledge is preferred, but not required.

We deliver investment solutions and investment management services for a wide range of clients, such as Taft-Hartley funds, foundations and endowments, religious organizations, public entities, corporations, insurance companies, and advisory channel clients.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide legal advice and support to the company and assist the other attorneys in Boyd Watterson’s Legal/Compliance Department with various tasks, including (without limitation): 

  • Preparation, processing and maintenance of regulatory filings

  • Intake, review and processing of investor subscriptions

  • Maintenance of compliance and risk management system

  • Contract review and management

  • Maintenance of investment entities

  • Maintenance of company records and documents

  • Legal research

  • Assistance with presentations and compliance training

  • Additional duties as assigned

 

Required Education and Experience:

  • Juris Doctorate Degree (or expected degree in 2019)

  • Licensed to practice law and in good standing in one or more U.S. states (or expected licensure in 2019)   

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Obligation to maintain confidentiality

  • Work productively and meet challenging work goals

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
