The Opportunity

The Staff Accountant will perform a variety of accounting, bookkeeping and financial tasks. Staff Accountant responsibilities include keeping financial records updated, preparing reports and reconciling bank statements.  This position will also run accounting software programs to process business transactions, including accounts payable and receivable, disbursements, invoices and receipts. A successful accounting clerk should be familiar with all accounting procedures and ensure that the company’s daily accounting functions run accurately and effectively.  This position will report to the Controller in the Cleveland office.


Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide accounting and clerical support to the Accounting department
  • Type accurately, prepare and maintain documents and records
  • Prepare bank deposits, general ledger postings and statements
  • Reconcile accounts in a timely manner
  • Enter key data of financial transactions in database on a daily basis
  • Provide assistance and support to company personnel
  • Research, track and restore accounting problems and discrepancies
  • Compile reports/summaries
  • Provide support for monthly and annual close
  • Complete work with accuracy and efficiency
  • Additional duties as assigned


Education, Skills, Personal Characteristics and Work Experience Requirements:

  • College graduate
  • Must have two or more years of finance, accounting or similar experience
  • Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and financial reports
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to uphold confidentiality
  • Must be able to use time productively and meet challenging work goals
  • Strong communication skills (written & oral)
  • Functional math skills are a must, with the ability to perform the following functions: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division


Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time
  • Requires lifting, pushing and pulling up to 20 pounds
