The Staff Accountant will assist Controller in all matters of accounting and financial reporting in accordance with GAAP for Real Estate. This position will report to the Senior Vice President, Controller in our Chicago, Illinois office.
Boyd Watterson Asset Management, LLC is an independent investment advisor specializing in fixed income, real estate, and equities. We deliver investment solutions tailored to meet the needs of Taft-Hartley funds, foundations and endowments, religious organizations, public entities, corporations, insurance companies, and advisory channel clients.
Our fixed income investment strategies range from short-term to liability-driven investing and high-quality to high yield. Our real estate strategies are derived from our specialized capabilities in acquiring and managing real estate leased to the US General Services Administration (GSA), which houses key federal agencies nationwide. Our equity capabilities are focused on domestic and dollar-denominated international large-capitalization, income-oriented strategies. We offer separately managed accounts, mutual funds, sub-advisory services, and bespoke solutions.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities for this position could include, but are not limited to:
Assist in preparing quarterly GAAP Financial Statements.
Review and upload Property level trial balances, and analyze budget variances
Prepare reporting package to ensure all required information is accurate
Perform account reconciliations and account analysis
Provide performance returns
Facilitate payment of property level invoices
Perform bank reconciliations
Prepare and post monthly journal entries
Assist in providing performance reporting for clients
Assist in monitoring and journalizing loan interest payments
Enter weekly invoices into Yardi software and update check registers
Prepare monthly assigned asset management fee invoices
Assist in preparing Audited Financial Statement in accordance with GAAP at year end
Update audit reporting package
Assist in uploading and reviewing budgets
Assist in administrative duties like scanning and saving documents
Serve as backup for Onboarding - Newly Acquired Properties
Set up property data in Yardi Accounting software
Prepare and send out opening entries and supporting work papers to controller for review to send to property managers and accountants
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Finance or Accounting
2-5 years of experience in Real Estate Accounting
Ability to work independently
Proficiency in Microsoft Word & Excel
Experience in Institutional Asset Management or Accounting
